Cells containing mutant CFTR versus isogenic cells corrected with wild-type CFTR: Human airway epithelial (IB3) cells expressing mutant CFTR (deltaF508/W1282X; [33]) and isogenic airway epithelial (C38) cells complemented with wild-type CFTR [34] were purchased from American Type Culture Collection, and were grown in LHC-8 medium (Invitrogen, Grand Island, NY) containing 5% fetal bovine serum, penicillin (100 U/ml), and streptomycin (100 mcg/ml) at 37uC in a humidified 5% CO2 water-jacketed incubator.
